    Grave Matters

Chariot, tjorrie, beloved bakkie or life passion?

All kinds of vehicles appear on people’s gravestones from cute Volksies, Land Rovers and Toyota bakkies to Mercedes Benzes, GTIs and vintage automobiles.

We have to hazard a guess: Do they represent a love for freedom and the open road, a dream-car, a status symbol or a person’s well-travelled, much-loved, faithful old jalopy. What do you think?

My favourite by far is ‘Safari’. A tour guide perhaps, someone who had a passion for travelling, a nickname or a wish for an exciting journey of discovery on the other side?
