    A snapshot in time

    Donkey-drawn road-grader

    By Manni Goldbeck
    September 26, 2024

The unusual contraption pictured here is an early road-grader, drawn by donkeys. The grading process required two people, one man to control the animals, the other to operate the grader to level out the corrugations. The grader driver is wearing a hat resembling a pith helmet to protect his face from the sun’s glare. Time was not an issue in those days and everything was done at a slower pace.
