Looking through old photos, I came across one of a tailgate from an old Toyota bakkie. The owner had innovatively transformed it into a signboard. He had whitened the beginning of the word ‘TOYOTA’, changing the last three letters into ‘DTA’ (Democratic Turnhalle Alliance), a strong opposition party before and after independence and one which he must have supported.
