Gondwana Collection Namibia has never been just another hospitality group. With 110,000 card members, it has redefined the local tourism landscape by making travel in Namibia both exceptional and accessible. The Groupโs pioneering spirit is reflected not just in its lodges and conservation efforts, but also in its innovative approach to inclusivityโparticularly through the Gondwana Card.
As Gondwana established itself as a leading hospitality group, it sought to make its lodges and experiences more accessible to locals and visitors from neighbouring countries. Recognizing that the domestic and SADC (Southern African Development Community) markets generally have less purchasing power compared to international travellers from outside Africa, Gondwana Collection Namibia introduced the Gondwana Cardโa simple, affordable membership.

In 2007, for a one-time payment of just N$100 for adults and N$50 for children aged 6โ13, the membership offered lifetime access to discounts across Gondwanaโs properties. Temporary residents, such as those on work or study permits, could also apply, with the card's validity tied to the duration of their permits. This was particularly appealing to Namibians, who could enjoy:
ยท 50% off accommodation (bed and breakfast)
ยท 25% off dinner and activities
SADC residents benefited at slightly reduced rates:
ยท 40% off accommodation (bed and breakfast)
ยท 25% off dinner and activities

On 1 November 2015, Gondwana revised its membership model. The once-off, lifelong membership was adapted to be applied for a five- year validity period, priced at N$200 for adults and N$100 for children (ages 6โ13). These rates were later increased to N$300 per adult and N$150 per child, which remain the current rates.
At the same time, Gondwana began the process of digitalising the membership, optimizing the quality of the data and at the same time reducing use of physical cards and thus aligning with Gondwana's sustainability goals, reducing the company's use of single-use plastic. The shift further aimed to associate a tangible value with the membership and streamline the application process.

In 2018, Gondwana expanded the membership benefits to include their self-catering offerings, such as Camping and Camping2Go. Naturally, the Gondwana Card discounts were extended to these new options on a bed-only basis, making budget-friendly travel even more accessible.
Certain campsites like Klein-Aus Vista and Geisterschlucht Cabin were and remain excluded from these discounts.

Starting June 2025, Gondwana will cease issuing physical membership cards, fully transitioning to a digital system. Members will need to present valid identification upon arrival at Gondwana properties, as verification will be conducted online. This move allows the company to grow with the digital age. Gondwana now has 110,000 membersโthey can't all be wrong.
