    Hay rake in Southern Namibia

For many years I’ve wondered about this hay rake that stands in the Namib Desert on the way to Tsondab Valley Lodge between Solitaire and Spreetshoogte Pass. And I’ve thought how those sales reps must have been very good to sell such a specialised implement to the farmers in the desert where there is hardly a blade of grass.

This year, after our exceptional rainfall, I was happy to see it standing in a sea of grass, one of the few times in the decades that a farmer would see his land flourishing and perhaps require such a piece of equipment.

    It made my day.
