After receiving another 10-12mm and light snowfalls in the Aus area with carpets of yellow flowers already visible, the outlook for a prolong flower season lasting until end Aug and beginning September is definitely a given.

There are 5-7 species of yellow flowers and 3 purple species that dominates the scene : on the harder rocky surfaces and the mountain foot slopes the Gazania lictensteinii can be blinding your eys at 2-4 pm , on the sandy plains the Hirpichium echinus (harige botterblom) and Foveolini- gansogies, are queen, both with overwhelming therapeutic aromas, in the dunes and riverbeds the majestic Aus daisy, Arctotis fastuosa stands out as a keystone species together with the fluorescent Grielum sinuatum.
The yellow and purple Hongerblom , Scenosio piptocoma & arenarius cover the mountain slopes together with the Berg Sporrie, Heliophila trifurca.

On the gravel and harder sandy plains the purple Heliophila deserticola shines over multiple hectares. The yellow endemic Cheiridopsis caroli-schmidtii veigie are now in full bloom on erosion sedimentary slopes.
End of August the 2 allusive endemic bulbs, intense red Ornotohoglossum pulgrum and purple Morea graniticola is a must to come and see
