    Days of slow travel

    By Manni Goldbeck

This old photo captures the moment so well. It shows a man, presumably the father, riding alongside his family in the cart, which would have been drawn by horses, mules or donkeys. In these days of slow travel a short trip took hours and a journey could take weeks or months. Zooming in, the wife is smiling warmly at her husband, lighting up the scene beautifully.
